January 15

Well, a lot has happened since October when I last wrote on here.  I'm not too good at keeping up this journaling thing.  I made a real journal for myself that I was going to start on January 1, and I completely forgot about it.

Anyway, Thanksgiving happened, Christmas happened.  It was pretty uneventful, but then came the day after Christmas.  Chris asked me if I wanted to go see a movie, and of course I said yes because I was dying to see "Memoirs of a Geisha."  So we went out to see it (and it was great, by the way), and then went out to dinner, where, he asked me to marry him.  Woo Hoo!  So now I'm engaged!  Already I'm driving people crazy looking for a dress, veil, etc. (already bought my shoes... most important part, you know...) and we have no idea when we'll be getting married.  Sometime this summer probably, but no special date yet.

Ok, got sidetracked for a second.  Had to listen to Elaine say "maybe the dingo ate your baby" on Seinfeld.  I love the look of extreme satisfaction on her face after she says it; that line always makes me laugh no matter how often i hear it on there.

Tuesday is the first day of my last semester of college.  I'll be getting out with a bachelors in history, but i'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet.  I would like to go all the way up and get my Ph.d but, who knows.  My next goal is to get a masters in museum studies.  Maybe I'll just be a professional student for the rest of my life.  I think I would enjoy it!

Eiffel Tower Presentation

Well, I did my art presentation this afternoon.  I think that it went pretty well, I really enjoyed doing it.  I finished my powerpoint last night, and got it up to 38 slides.  I think it took me about 35 minutes to present.

I also got some great news yesterday!  I think that my best friend will be coming to my house for Thanksgiving this year!  I'm very excited, I haven't seen her since March, and she is from Japan.  It's going to be a real treat for me to see her twice in the same year.  Usually I see her about once every three years.  Having her here with all of my family back from Colorado will be so wonderful.  It's too bad everyone can't stay until Christmas too, that would be an absolute dream, since we haven't had Christmas all together as a family in about 13 years.

New Puppy!

On Wednesday my Dad bought a new puppy for us!  He is a cock-a-poo, a mixed breed of a cocker spaniel and a poodle.  Mom named him Cooper, and he's really cute.  We're all very glad that he isn't half as hyper as Dudley was!  So far, he hasn't gone to the bathroom in the house, and only goes outside, so that's good.  Hopefully, he'll be able to learn tricks as well as Dudley did.  He's a little young for them now, but I'll teach him later.  I love his colors!  Black and brown and white!

Victorian Costuming

Well, I've been breaking my butt for the last couple of weeks working on a costume for this year's Halloween/Art Presentation.  It's a lovely red and black Victorian number.  It's taken some time, but it's really starting to take shape.  Once I get the white lace on the apron and skirt it will be finished.  I already finished the bustle and top for it.  The bustle is AWESOME!  I made it detatchable, so I can wear the dress with it, or without it (looks better with).  Hopefully I'll get to wear it for the  Feast of Phantoms  at the KC Renn fest, if we're lucky enough to get tickets.  I'll also get to wear it for my art presentation on the Eiffel tower on Oct. 21.  Too bad it didn't fall closer to Halloween, then I would have worn it all day long!!!

Eiffel Tower

Does anybody out there have any really interesting pictures of the eiffel tower?  I'm doing a presentation in an art history class, and I'm looking for some interesting views of the tower.  If anyone has any pictures that they wouldn't mind being part of a presentation, please send me the urls, or email them to me.  thanks!

Missouri Western State UNIVERSITY!

Wow! I can't believe that we're a university!!  We gained our new status as of August 28, and several ceremonies took place last week to honor our new educational status!  On Wednesday, at our Convocation we gave out our first two Doctorates (Education Emeritus), and our new seal was formally unveiled!  It was so exciting to be at.

Last week was a historical week for Missouri Western, and I'm very proud to be a student there.  I'm so glad that my diploma next spring is going to say Missouri Western State University!  I hope that they develop a Masters Degree program in History sometime soon, so I can take part in that.  This fall I am joining Phi Alpha Theta (a honors history group).

Missin' Missouri

Was anyone else out there at the Sara Evans concert at the Missouri State Fair?  If you were, you were lucky enough to hear this awesome song, too!  I think that every Missourian in the crowd was exceedingly proud of our own Missouri girl and her song, I know that I was!  I love how her song points out everything that is great about the Show Me State, it makes me glad to live here!!!  I can't wait for her Real Fine Place cd to come out in October so I can listen to this song over and over!!
